Dear Dad, I really need to talk to someone about my current situation. I have never been through anything quite like this and am truly at a dead end. I believe I'm capable of getting through anything but this is so bad that I really just don't have many answers on my own. I just need help. My thoughts are paralyzing me from taking action. Advice from most everyone seems empty groundless rhetoric. I feel overwhelmed and it's even hard to type this to you. How should I visualize a more positive approach?

I know you feel sick and believe it's all on your shoulders. Take a deep breath and don't let it get to you.
It's the main reasons I formed AskDAD.com, because there are lots of people out there, without a Dad. Someone like me to help put it all into perspective.
AskDAD.com is like a road sign, just helping you to find your way. The road itself is yours and the turns, regardless of how well they are marked, are always your choices, left or right, high road or low road... you choose.
Either way, the road ahead is never without potholes... sometimes it's a gravel road and not marked too clearly. Other times it's foggy or the weather has made it impassible for a bit... and in the dark, signs are all you have to keep you going in the right direction.
The future is a long, wide and dry summer road when you work to keep moving ahead.
We all experience these times and need to focus on maintaining our energy and spirits.
I know that feeling well...when the heart rate is fast and unsettled, that dizzying, numb, foggy feeling, the sinking stomach, the paralysing fear and anxiety, inability to sleep, tense, stressful, etc. In fact, there's few words that can describe how serious and difficult it feels.... even devastating doesn't make it.
If not for friends and family(road signs)... tough times would be unbearable.
One day it's hard to cope and the next it's manageable. I think our emotions numb just for our survival.
We all understand tough times, those living our lifes completely, and life does go on.
At these times, things of value are more easily recognized.
Like someone being your concerned friend or Dad.
Many are living from minute to minute, dollar to dollar.
Look around... at a time like this it really makes it clear when you see wasteful, self-centered and unthinking people without proper perspective. Perhaps, everyone grows and matures from such times. I truly believe that something good always comes from change and adversity. Oh sure, this REALLY sounds like a cheery uplifting response.
Okay, just cheer right up there Buckaroo.. put smile on your face and wishes in your pockets.
Tomorrow will be a new bright shiny day. You will enjoy summer again...very soon.
We need to recognize that no matter how much support or encouragement we get, we are ultimately on our own.
Also, no matter how much discouragement or negative energy we pick up, we are ultimately on our own.
This realization helps develop four golden virtues: initiative, individualism, character and audacity.
Visualization is the pilot of accomplishment.
The would-be creator who operates thus has sharp foresight and increased power of action.
Also, we need to assume the Presidential role without endangering the well-being of our near and dear.
Hopefully those we love give full support.... they need to be your objective ear, support, partner, friend, associate in this change.
With healthy and well-directed willpower, the art of life is fun.
It's not something new....
"Give me a firm place to stand, and I will move the earth." (Archimedes)
"I'm continuing to work hard, not without periods of discouragement, but until my strength comes back again." (Claude
Monet)
Phrases like, "I am truly at a dead end" will accomplish little, other than to create false fears. The reality is more aptly stated, I am truly at a new beginning."
Your true metal is being tested. You can't avoid it, not and succeed in life.
Now we could start speaking of what is truly success.... let's not....but your words, "I am capable of getting through anything" I do fully have confidence
is a correct statement.

"Experience is not what happens to a man. It is what a man does with what happens to him."
"What one will know is far greater and more useful than what one has known."
I have faith and trust you will succeed.
